Expert Says that Trinity Crash Test Failed

Engineering expert Brian Coon in legal documents filed on Thursday afternoon said the final Trinity Guardrail crash test failed. Mr Coon was retained by the lawyers of whistleblower Joshua Harmon and Mr. Coon said in his affidavit that the test did in fact fail.

The full Brain Coon Affidavit regarding the failing of the Trinity Crash test can be read in full below. The testimony from the expert on the Trinity Crash Test fail reads "In my opinion, the January 27, 2015, test of the ET-Plus guardrail end terminal failed NCHRP Report 350 Criteria D, "Deformations of, or intrusions into, the occupant compartment that could cause serious injuries should not be permitted,". Also in the document Brian Coon called the crash test a clear failure. Trinity is disputing the testimony of this expert saying the data must be analyzed further in order to come to an outcome.

This comes on the same day as the Federal Highway Administration saying that Trinity Guardrail passed the first four of 8 crash tests. The 2nd set of Trinity crash tests are still under review until all the damage can analyzed.

The results of the controversial last crash test will be critical. The Federal Highway Administration has previously stated it will revoke acceptance of the ET-Plus Trinity Guardrail if it fails the crash test. Many states all over the country have already stopped installation of new Trinity Guardrails. Some states have already gone ahead and made plans to remove the guardrails and not wait on the test. There have been numerous Trinity Guardrail lawsuits filed.
